Black is a wardrobe staple and so is this LBD. I once heard someone say that you cannot have too many LBDs in your closet. I completely agree. This one is extra special because of the fun detail – puffy sleeves and a lace collar.  It is the right price too – only $68. (For you tall gals, the length is perfect. I ordered a size 8 and it is a bit loose, but the 6 would be too small.)

My favorite thing about this dress is that it spans all seasons.  I definitely see myself wearing this throughout the holidays with some blingy jewelry, black tights, patent heels and a red lip.

And that cute little fashionista?  That’s Kora, Audrey’s sweet little lovie.  I got to hold her while Audrey was testing the light. Is she not the cutest little fashionista you’ve ever seen?  I just adore her and cannot wait to spend the weekend with her in Seattle! Such a little love bug.

xoxo,

Jen

Hi Loves!

I am so excited to be partnering with Jord to showcase this gorgeous wooden timepiece. I’ve been wearing this watch for the past several weeks and absolutely love it. It’s unique, stylish and versatile. I am completely impressed by the detail and craftsmanship of the wood and love the rich mint-colored face – perfect for coordinating with my springtime outfits.

When I received the watch, I could not believe the attention to detail given to the packaging. As shown above, it arrives in a heavy wooden box with the watch secured on a burlap pillow. Inside, a cleaning tool is included. The box is almost as gorgeous as the watch and perfect for displaying on a shelf or in an open room closet. Simply opening the package brought a feeling of approachable luxury.

The Jord brand represents more than a watch – they make wearable art. Spend a few minutes browsing their site and you immediately sense the pride and devotion this company has for their product. While it was difficult to make one choice, I ultimately decided on the dark sandalwood and mint combination. I love the contrast of the dark wood and the soft mint color. I wear a lot of gold, so the gold accents are a perfect compliment to my favorite dainty gold bracelets and large gold cuffs that I wear almost daily.

Jord is offering Very Truly Yours, Jennifer readers an opportunity to win $100 credit toward a Jord watch! Simply complete the entry form (name and email only!), available here. Everyone who enters will receive a code for $25 off a Jord watch. Contest ends May 14, 2017. Good luck!

Happy Snow Day from Denver!

I’m currently snowed in with 9 inches of snow and counting…

Since I can’t get out of my driveway for a latte, I decided to try my hand at homemade hot chocolate.  I’ve been eyeing Ina Garten’s recipe for sometime, but due to the ingredients (you’ll see what I mean), I knew it would have to be a special occasion.  And a snow day seemed like just the occasion.

So, first of all, a bit of warning…there is NOTHING low cal about this recipe, but oh. em. gee. is it worth it.

Stay warm loves!!

xoxo

Hot Chocolate

Recipe by Ina Garten

2 and 1/2 cups whole milk (I used 2% and it was still delicious)

2 cups half and half

4 ounces bittersweet chocolate

4 ounces milk chocolate

1 Tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon instant coffee powder (I did not have this, but I am sure it would be a wonderful addition.)

4 to 5 vanilla beans for garnish (I garnished with whip cream and marshmallows)

Method: Heat milk and half and half to just below simmering.  Remove pan from heat and add both chocolates.  When chocolates are melted, add sugar, vanilla and espresso.  Whisk vigorously.  Reheat gently and serve immediately.

Guacamole Goodness…

Guacamole.  Goodness in a bowl.  My favorite food.  I could literally eat it for dinner…every. night.

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, I’m sharing my favorite, no-fail, guacamole recipe.  Super easy to make and always a hit at a party!

The secret to delicious guacamole is really in the avocados.  Ensuring they are ripe and buttery will yield the perfect texture of luscious avocado goodness.

If you do not have Cinco de Mayo plans, add this to your dinner menu tonight!  Happy Cinco de Mayo!

xoxo,

Jen

Guacamole

This recipe takes about 20 minutes and serves 4-8.

Ingredients:

4 Large Avocados, perfectly ripe

¼ c. red onion, minced

¼ c. tomatoes, diced

¼ c. cilantro, chopped

2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and minced

3 cloves of garlic, minced

1-2 T. fresh lime juice

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. pepper

toasted pumpkin seeds (optional – for garnish)

blue corn tortilla chips (for serving)

Method:

Cut the avocados in half and remove the flesh. If you’re unfamiliar with this process, watch here.

Mash avocado (but not too much – leave it chunky for best results.

Mix in the salt and lime juice.

Mix in the remaining ingredients.

Garnish with toasted pumpkin seeds.

Serve with blue corn tortilla chips.

Outfit Deets…

Faux Fur Vest // Forever 21

Orange Long Sleeve Tee // JCrew

Jeans // 7 for All Mankind

Shoes // Pikolinos

Sunglasses // Ray-Ban

Such a simple outfit, but so much to share about it!!

First of all — I feel like I scored a great deal on this vest!  It is so cozy, so soft, so high quality and only around $40 at Forever 21.  Faux fur vests add some serious pizzazz to any basic outfit.  I highly recommend checking out the option in this post.  I’ve linked a few other inexpensive, but high quality options here and here.

Second – these jeans! I tried on several flares and these are by far my favorite.  They were sold out at my local Nordy’s, so I know I’m not alone.  They are flattering (perfect amount of stretch) and LONG!!!  More on the expensive side, but with jeans, I feel like the higher price is worth it.  Do you have a favorite pair of jeans right now?  Especially flares? I’d love more recommendations, so if you do, please comment below!

Last!  These shoes.  I fell in love with these shoes a few years ago and they haven’t disappointed once.  Have you ever tried a pair of Pikolinos?  The pictured boots are no longer available, but I linked a similar option that is just darling.  I really love their high quality leather and super cute options.  Check them out!

Have a great day loves!

xoxo

Hello darlings!

I’ve always thought of florals for spring, but I’m seeing more and more fall-like florals and just adore them.  I cannot stop gushing about this floral dress. It works as a perfect transition piece because it is long-sleeved, yet light weight.  I also love the dainty detail bow on the back!  I will be wearing  this over and over again.

I ordered these shoes specifically for this dress, but I’ve found them to be super versatile. Although I’ve only had them a bit over a week, I’ve worn them with skirts and flare jeans.  Super, super cute.

I’m so excited to be heading to California for the long weekend!  My sweet grandmother turns 91, so we are going to celebrate her and spend time with family and friends.  I cannot wait to watch the sunset over the ocean…one of my favorite things!  Follow along on snapchat (@jenalbert) and if you have any restaurant recs in the San Diego or LA area, please send them my way!

xoxo

One of my favorite trends this fall is fringe. I love the interesting detail fringe accessories can add to any outfit. These booties are comfy and will be on repeat all season long!

Hope you all had a great day and celebrated with cooler temps, pumpkin spice lattes and scarves. Or, if you still have warm weather, at least dreamt of them.

Embrazio Clutch…

Hi Lovies!

You may remember my first post about Embrazio, a Boulder, Colorado-based company that makes deliciously luxurious leather goods. This post features my favorite Embrazio item – the Savannah Leather Envelope Clutch and Crossbody Purse – where fashion meets function in the most perfect way. I’ve been carrying this clutch for several weeks now and am obsessed.

For the fashion-conscious, the color (“Distressed Cognac” – even adore the name), leather and style will have you swooning. The color is rich and perfect for wearing in all seasons. The leather is soft and supple. It’s the kind of purse that looks like it’s been with you for years, yet keeps its freshness because of the classic, envelope style.

For the utility-conscious, the clutch is compact, yet boasts capacity to hold a ton – my wallet, iPhone, gum, lip gloss, sunglasses, keys and even sometimes my iPad. Inside even features a zipper pocket and two smaller pockets to keep you organized. Personally, I am a fan of carrying a clutch, but for those that prefer hands-free, a long chain attaches to two loops inside for a crossbody look (also shown in pictures above).

This clutch is available in several colors – black and several two-toned options (black/gold, black/silver, and black/bronze). As with all Embrazio products, the clutch is handmade, solid leather and with the utmost attention to every detail.

Thank you to Embrazio for sponsoring this post.

One of the reasons I love shopping at Anthropologie is the attention to detail found in almost every item they sell.  That is what attracted me to this dress.  The embroidery work is incredible.  When I first picked up the dress, I predicted a significant price tag, but was pleasantly surprised and am even more excited to share that I found it for under $100 here.

I love finding statement dresses or pieces that are easy to style.  I believe it is imperative to have a few of these go-to items in your closet.  One of my favorite things about fashion is the process of coordinating an outfit – it allows for creativity, it can be challenging, but there is a satisfaction that comes with the final product and how wearing it makes you feel.  But sometimes, there just is not time (at least for me!) to dedicate to that process.  That is when statement dresses are a must.  An outfit instantly comes together, with minimal effort and no matter what is truly going on in life, you look and feel “put together” without actually being put together. (Fake it to make it, right?)

Whenever I invest in a statement piece like this one, I always like to ensure that I can wear it in more than one season.  This dress works in spring, summer and fall.  It is adorable with sandals, but I also see myself pairing it with tan over the knee boots and a cute scarf as temps drop.

Although I highly recommend this dress, I’ve linked some other options below.

xoxo
